I’m not sure if this will be a weekly thing, but occasionally I will feature an app that may not necessarily be needed but is interesting none-the-less.
This week’s app is “Who Won“.
Ever run a contest and had to make up some way to figure out the winner? You maybe put the names into a hat and drew them out one by one. Or you might have had people roll a die or dice to determine the winner. There are many ways to do it and here is an app that proposes to help.
It is just one screen, but how many do you need? It provides buttons when you right-click to upload your files of contestants and prizes. They work only in .txt file format (maybe others formats but only other one I tried was .docx since it doesn’t indicate. It doesn’t matter what you named the files though, just pick the right ones. Strangely it says “Load People” and “Load Prizes” on the bars at the top portion of the app, but the one load button says “Contestants” not just people, so you could use this for dog prizes for example.
You click on spin to make it do its thing. The choices scroll by in the bars, a nice touch. You must click STOP to get a result.
Each time you stop it, it shows the results at the top and displays it in the Winners box. Each time you spin it you’ll get a different result and it tracks them all in order. It will only use as many prizes as you have available, and then it quits. The spin count is for the spin you are going to make, not the one you already made.
It is potentially a handy app. I do wish you could enter the prizes and contestants directly into the app and not have to create separate files. It mainly works best with only random prizes, but you could make it work with 1st, 2nd 3rd but would have to re-load files. Again would be easier if it was within the app itself to change things up quickly. Odd app but it could be useful.

I am the creator of this app… I’d be happy to make some changes to make it more useful and flexible…. I’d like to discuss your thoughts on it. Feel free to contact me via Email below.
Thank you for reviewing my app!
